Mon Ami
By Francine Pingco
Things never go the way I want them to
Words never come out the way I planned them to
Even though I’m a failure,
you never take it to heart
And I’ll be very sad if we really fall apart.
Everyday we have been there for each other
Though not always are we together.
With simple “hi’s” and “hello’s” along the corridors
Make up all the time we’ve spent in doors.
He gave me his trust as I gave him mine
Together, we make such other shine.
Privacy is not a problem between us
Nor teasing each other and making a fuss.
Our responsibilities are not entirely the same
Just as different as their names
The other has what the other lacks
Even with this difference, we have each other’s backs.
I’m very glad to have friend like you
Go I dedicate this poem,
Because I know it’s true
And as this poem is nearing its end
I wish our friendship does not bend.
