The Environment: A Global Change, A Global Concern
By Ralphe Lawrenze Alarcon

It has been veritable that throughout the era of the 21st century, diverse catastrophes strike our country, the Philippines, with the same extent all over the globe. Further, this dilemma has been a major concern for everyone. And what hurts most about this certain issue is that one day, there is nothing to call a paradise.

This fact that startles science enthusiasts has been also the issue throughout media, either the newspaper or broadcast. It has been also scientifically proven that if this subject matter is not alleviated as soon as possible, there might be maladies which will befall mankind that will cause death. Though some legislators impose a law in the assembly regarding this subject, there are still some who do not abide with it. Others are still not aware on what will happen after they will break some national laws that the assembly of the lawmakers may have overlooked. His topic has also been discussed in the classrooms and it is also the right of every scholar, around the world to be involved and be concerned. Hence, if every student of this land will be drawn in, there might be a probable remedy for the predicament we are in.

On the other hand, as each of us is facing a worldwide conflict like this, there would always be possible solution. This enervating problem could rouse the sleeping dragon inside the youth’s heart and mind. Though our country can be considered a tyro in the field of science and technology, it is not a hindrance. As long as there are fellows who are decisive in fighting against the drastic global condition, there will be hope. Further, this is not just an issue for the youth but so with the elder people. This means that the best gift an elder can bestow to the next generation is a best place to live, a good environment.

In line with this, a devastating scene of environment would be these. Imagine a paved road that will be rugged someday. Imagine the vast blue ocean transforming into a sea of oil spills. Imagine yourself gasping for air to breathe. Imagine a winter cold summer and a scorching hot winter.

Thus the world should be speaking for itself and its occupants that if it would not be taken good care of, everything would be perished. This issue should not be ignored or set aside, it should be brought out for discussion for it always remains that the environment is a global challenge, a global concern.
